Futures High School (Sacramento, CA): The were a lot of games and fun music at the rally of “Welcome Back to School” that took place on August 29, 2025. In total, there were 4 games throughout the entire event and each game had multiple rounds or matches. After some of the games, leadership students would come around and throw candy to the students in the benches.
The first game was called, “Dress to Impress”, which is a game where contestants have 2 minutes to choose mystery clothes that are in a box and make the best outfit out of them. In the 1st round, the competition was between 2 teachers. After 2 minutes both of them had already made a good outfit out of the clothes. It was a close call, but the female teacher took the win for the first match of dress to impress. The 2nd round features 2 students; both created super good outfits, but only one of them won.
The second game was “Dodgeball”. There were 2 teams of 12 and they picked all of the players from the audience or the students. After the two teams where picked they were separated into their assigned sides and the balls were put in the middle. When the match started, it looked like it was going to be a fair game, but Team #1 took a big lead and eliminated most of the Team# 2. After only around 3 minutes, team 2 was only down to 4 or 5 players and team 1 had only lost 2 players. Since the game was taking too long, because no one was throwing balls anymore, the hosts had to do a countdown and Team #1 took the win.
The third game was “Musical Desks”, which just like musical chairs, but instead participants must pull out the chairs from the desks and sit on them. The first round was pretty competitive, because after they stopped playing the music, 2 players were eliminated. Every round after that, 1 player got out until a girl finally took the win.
The fourth and last game was “Guess the Song”. How the game works is they play a random song for 10 seconds and then two people on chairs have to guess the name and artist. The first person to run to the microphone and the first person that gives the correct answer wins that round. If they say the song and the artist of the song, they get 2 points. The first round featured 2 students from the crowd. The 1st girl was taking a big lead after guessing song after song. Meanwhile, the second girl was guessing songs correctly, just not as often as the 1st girl. The 1st girl wound up winning the game. The next match featured a teacher versus a student. The match went down to the wire, but it was the student who was able to guess most of the songs. Meanwhile, the teacher was having a tough time with the song titles. However, the final round came, and it was whoever guesses the song wins and the teacher guessed the song before the student.
Overall, FHS students seemed lively and energetic at our first rally of the year. Nice job by the leadership team, who put on the event.
