On Monday, September 8, 2025, Futures High School hosted a “Resume Workshop” in the library. The event was hosted to help students prepare for future opportunities by building a strong professional resume. They handed papers and sample resumes, while students brought their own computers.
A transition coach was in charge of the whole event. She explained how a solid resume could be better in internships, part-time jobs, and long term careers. Step-by-step, the coach showed how to highlight personal skills, organize experiences, and choose professional wording to impress employers. Students listened and took notes revising their drafts. Some worked by themselves while others worked with a friend.
By the end of the session most of the students finished a draft of their resume. The most important thing in a resume is, “everything has to be spelled correctly, it has to be capitalized, and it has to be the truth.” said by the transition coach. Many students used their new resumes to apply at Old Navy Stores, immediately.
Good luck to all of our Futures’ job seekers!
