I´ve always had an interest in psychology and Futures High School offers a psychology class that is taught by Mr G. Curious, I decided to spend a week in Mr G´s psychology class to find out what these students are learning and what topics they are currently covering and I must say there are some really interesting cases currently being covered in his class. When I originally walked into his class the students were watching an educational video about the parts of the brain and how they work. Something that really stuck with me about this video however was a man named Phineas Gage who survived a metal pole pierced through his head and lived for 12 more years. Although the man lost an eye and coughed up a teacup full of brain matter he still lived and it is super interesting to me how he lost so much of his brain and he could still walk and talk and everything! The mind is truly a powerful organ and yet is somehow still incredibly fragile. This case is sometimes used as a way for students to understand how the frontal lobe (a part of the brain) can drastically control ones own personality and how damaging it can lead to aggressive behavior and more. Each part of the brain is a part of the system and that there really is no such thing as ¨I¨ since the brain is so complex it have over 90 Billion neurons in a single skull. Psychology is truly remarkable I will definitely need to make a serious about all the interesting cases and topic covered at Futures High School. kjb
